Services
These services are offered in a relaxed setting that is located on a major bus route (Route No. 22). I offer treatment for these and other behaviours:

  • INTERNET PORNOGRAPHY use and other apparently compulsive/habitual/"addicted" sexual practices (e.g. compulsive masturbation) may involve using sex as a coping mechanism (sex as coping).  Some people say they cannot stop thinking about sex (sexual pre-occupation). Others complain that they are unable to "get" the sex they want in their relationship (sexual entitlement). Some people feel they are uninterested in sex (sometimes referred to as "sexual anorexia").
  • Some people are interested in sexual practices that are unhealthy and/or illegal (e.g. some types of sado-masochistic practices; sex with children; sex involving bodily wastes).  Some of these practices involve pornography use that some say result in altered "sexual maps," or the acquisition of deviant sexual scripts.
  • Sexual abuse can take many forms. Clearly, engaging in sexual practices involving children or underage people (the law in Canada has changed and the age of consent is now 16), or possessing, making, accessing or distributing child pornography is a criminal act involving the sexual abuse of children.  Engaging in sex practices outside of a committed relationship (pornography use, use of sex trade workers, having "affairs," serial sexual relationships,) counts as sexual abuse of one's partner
  • As well, for those who have been charged criminally for their sexual behaviour, I offer PRETRIAL ASSESSMENT.
  • For those who are engaged in court-ordered treatment programs, I also offer individual assistance with your treatment goals and homework assignments, as well as FORENSIC FOLLOW-UP after court-ordered            treatment has ended.

ADULT-SURVIVORS OF CHILDHOOD SEXUAL VIOLENCE
More men than reported in the official literature have suffered the effects of sexualized violence (sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse).  Research indicates that boys are assaulted most between the ages of four and six, whereas girls are assaulted most between the ages of ten and fourteen. Reporting of sexual violence against boys is, therefore, under reported due in part to their age when boys most often suffer abuse. Shame also prevents many boys from reporting their abuse to an adult.  Many men are involved in unhealthy relationships today as a result of these experiences. My services are especially important for these individuals.
